Alex Irvine (born March 22, 1969) is an American fantasy and sci-fi author who wrote the novelization of Independence Day: Resurgence. He has written fourteen books, including Buyout, The Narrows, and A Scattering of Jades, which won him the Crawford Award for best new writer. He was a finalist for the Campbell Award for best new writer and a Pushcart Award nominee for his short story "Snapdragons." He had also written other media-related novels such as the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise, Transformers, Tom Clancy's The Division, and Pacific Rim.
