Designed with both offensive and defensive capabilities, the ESD Moon Base is the first of several planetary bases designed to monitor the Solar System for potential alien threats.
Description
After great efforts and technological innovations (most of which obtained through the use of alien technology retrieved from the destroyed spacecrafts), the ESD Moon Base became operational on February 21, 2009. During the inauguration ceremony, ESD Director David Levinson participated in the honor of the ribbon cutting ceremony. The commander of the base is Jiang Lao.
The ESD Moon Base serves as a space monitoring center, but is also equipped with both offensive and defensive weapons. The primary weapon is the moon cannon, installed in 2016. Along with the Orbital Defense System, it is one of Earth's first line of defense.
Destruction
During the 20th anniversary of the War of 1996, the Moon Base destroyed an unknown spaceship that appeared near the Moon. Following afterward, the base came under attack by the Harvester mothership and was immediately destroyed with all personnel lost including Commander Lao.
