An harvester is a alien drone use in agriculture. Harvester drones are seen inside the Harvester Mothership, cutting away the plants that are grown inside the massive vessel.

- In The Art and Making of Independence Day: Resurgence, the harvester was based on Steve Burg's sketches. According to Johannes Mücke, the harvester was envisioned as a "super-menacing cutting machine with hundreds of blades - slightly inspired by a nightmare [he] had years ago. We later added the humongous trailer where the conveyor belt transports the greenery. Roland advised we make it as big as possible, his exact words being: 'You guys in Vienna never think big enough.'"
