The Fourth of July, or known as Independence Day or July 4th, is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the Declaration of Independence of the United States, on July 4, 1776. The Continental Congress declared that the thirteen American colonies were no longer subject to the United Kingdom. July 4th has been celebrated as the birth of American independence, with festivities ranging from fireworks, parades and concerts to more casual family gatherings.[1]
Since the War of 1996, July 4th has been celebrated as a global holiday for humankind as it was the day that humanity decisively defeated an alien invasion on July 4, 1996. The July 4th counteroffensive against the extraterrestrial invaders has been colloquially called "The Fourth".[2] In 2016, the 20th anniversary of the War of 1996 was celebrated on July 4th until the celebrations was disrupted by the War of 2016.[3]
