Hong Kong was a self governing territory of China. As of 1996, Hong Kong was a British colony until its 99-year lease end in 1997.

Hong Kong was one of the many cities destroyed during the War of 1996, just exactly one more year before the handover to the PRC. The city was left on fire, and at least more than two-hundred ships in Victoria Harbour were caught in the devastation.[1]
