The International Legacy Squadron is an Earth Space Defense squadron that consisted of the best pilots from the various countries that formed the ESD. Notable members include Lieutenant Rain Lao and Captain Dylan Hiller.[1]

Legacy Squadron was conceptualized as a symbol of global unity, hailed by its supporters as the “point of the spear.” Detractors, however, criticized Legacy Squadron as a propaganda stunt.[1]

Legacy Squadron made their public debut during the 20th anniversary of the War of 1996 on July 3, 2016. The squadron is made up of nine pilots representing the United States, China, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Russia, Japan, Australia and Brazil.

During the July 4th celebrations, Legacy Squadron perform their flight over the ESD Moon Base. However, the performance was interrupted by the sudden appearance of the Harvester Mothership. Legacy Squadron were forced to return to Earth after the Moon Base was annihilated by the mothership.

Legacy Squadron participated with other ESD fighters led by Captain Hiller in a counterattack on the mothership. Their mission failed when they are caught in a trap within the mothership, which nearly wipes out the entire unit. Hiller and Lao were among the few survivors of Legacy Squadron and managed to escape the mothership by hijacking Harvester fighter vessels.
