Radio Technician: "Sir. They've taken out NORAD."
General Grey: "What?"
Radio Technician: "It's gone, sir."
— A radio technician informing NORAD's destruction.

The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) is a combined organization of the United States and Canada that provides aerospace warning, air sovereignty, and defense for Northern America. Headquarters for NORAD is located in the Cheyenne Mountain Complex, near Colorado Springs, Colorado.

History[]

During the first day of the War of 1996, the Vice President, the Cabinet, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, their advisers and families were evacuated from Washington, D.C. to NORAD.[1] After the aliens began their attack, Air Force One carrying President Thomas Whitmore was en route to NORAD. NORAD later confirmed with General William Grey to coordinate a military counterattack against the invaders which ended in total failure.

Following the failed counterattack, NORAD lost contact with Air Force One and other military installations as the invaders began destroying satellite communications. Shortly thereafter, the Cheyenne Mountain Complex came under attack by alien fighter crafts and was destroyed, leaving no survivors.[2]
