The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, commonly known as the United Kingdom (UK), is a unitary parliamentary constitutional monarchy located in Western Europe which is formed of four countries: England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. The UK has 15 Overseas Territories that make up what was left of the British Empire which, at its height in the 1920s, encompassed almost a quarter of the world's land mass and was the largest empire in history.

History

During the War of 1996, a press conference was called by Prime Minister John Major and Opposition Leader Tony Blair to announce the formation of an emergency coalition government. London was destroyed during the initial phase of the invasion. Fortunately, the Royal Family were safely evacuated before the city's destruction.[2]

After London, the aliens destroyed Birmingham and Liverpool. During the July 4th counterattack, British military forces successfully intercepted the alien City Destroyer over Belfast.[3] After the war, it was estimated that the death toll in England was more than four million, and more than a million were homeless.[4] In 1998, Prime Minister Tony Blair met with President Thomas Whitmore and other European heads of state, including German Chancellor Helmut Kohl and Russian President Boris Yeltsin, to bring the world to greater unity.[3]

During the 20th anniversary of the War of 1996, the United Kingdom was threatened by the return of the aliens in which London was again destroyed by fallen debris dropped by the Harvester Mothership.[1]
